As the introduction of BIM (Building Information Modeling) becomes mandatory by the government, BIM adoption is spreading among public institutions in Korea.

Meanwhile, in the private sector, voluntary BIM utilization is increasing, particularly among large construction companies and architectural firms. During this growth, a Korean company recently achieved ISO 19650:2018 certification, marking it the first BIM international standard in the architectural industry, which has garnered significant attention.

AA Archigroup Architects announced on January 19 that it was the first in the architectural design sector to obtain ISO 19650:2018 certification, the BIM international standard governed by the Royal Standards Institution in the UK. ISO 19650 is a global standard concerning information management through BIM, officially recognizing global-level BIM information management capabilities, standardized technology and quality, and the performance capabilities of project participants throughout the entire project process, from bidding to design and construction.

It established an international standard with detailed procedures and criteria for implementing BIM Level 2, which is commonly utilized in the UK.
